BIOGRAPHY

Ronald Jonkers, born 19 May 1948 in Jutphaas near Utrecht (Holland)

After a long life in publishing, immersed in the world of texts I started to explore the world of images. I had always painted and drawn, but never particularly rigid. About march 2003 I took my pastels and tried for the first time to depict the countryside here round about the little town of Lure in the East of France, where I live with my wife, the author Sibylle Mulot and our two daughters.
The strictness of translating the colours in which the real world presents itself to our eyes into the colourspectrum of my pastelpigments pleased me so much, that I continued and extended my subjects to other landscapes -- new ones, like St.-Malo in Brittany and perhaps also to the landscapes I used to live in, for instance those in Southern Germany, or the Dutch rivers and estates around Utrecht. >>
